The Rocky Horror Freak Show

The Rocky Horror Freak Show: A new take on the cult classic, putting the world of Rocky Horror into a 1930’s carnival theme.

Now admittedly, Halloween is our favorite holiday here at 907Life. The parties, all of the candy
(it doesn’t matter how old you are) and of course…
the costumes!! For some of us enthusiasts, we like to try and stretch out this holiday of horrors by creating new traditions. Going to haunted houses, carving pumpkins and making spooky edibles and watching scary movies. Now me personally, I hate being scared. 8 year old me still haven’t forgiven Michael Jackson for scaring the bejesus out of me in Thriller and just in case its true, I don’t look at mirrors in the dark. But I love the events, I can’t help it!

So in an effort to continue the Halloween traditions building, we sought out new things Alaskans could participate in and add to their continually growing list of pre Halloween activities. Something we were excited about, The Alaska Experience Theatres: Halloween Extravaganza.

Not that they are reinventing the wheel here, they are just ahead of the curve in Anchorage on this one. The AET will be offering classic ghostly inspired films on the big screen just in time for the weeks leading up to the day of the dead. Arguably classic, none of us Im assuming, were old enough to see any of these movies on the big screen, so its always a treat to see some noteable throwbacks in a movie setting. Movies like Nightmare on Elms Street, Beetlejuice and Ghostbusters are just some of the fun Halloween appropriate movies playing for this 1 time only event. Another good thing, its only $5!! Sweet. Below is a listing of all the movies and showtimes for the Alaska Experience Theatres: Halloween Extravaganza.

Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.

After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it is up to two teen-agers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to the witches' reign of terror once and for all.Three unemployed parapsychology professors set up shop as a unique ghost removal service.
A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a "bio-exorcist" in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house.
A boy inadvertently breaks 3 important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town.

So there you have it, some classic movies to jump start your Halloween holiday. Also for another great tradition check out, The Rocky Horror Freak Show: While some are already familiar with the tradition of going and watching an “interactive” version of the The Rocky Horror Picture Show… Mad Myrnas will be treating Anchorage this year to a new take on the cult classic, putting the world of Rocky Horror into a completely immersive theatrical experience transporting the audience into a 1930’s carnival. Could be worth it, just to see something strange.

Are you going to see any of the movies? Which one or all of them? Tell us what your Halloween traditions are in the comments below.
