For the 37th time, the Alyeska Resort hosted their annual end of the ski season celebration with their Spring Carnival. Alaskan’s came out to Alyeskas Resort mostly in part to witness its biggest event of the weekend, Slush Cup. 50 Slush Cup competitors attempting to make it across a 90-foot long pool of freezing water, equipped with only their skis, snowboard, speed and hopefully a little luck.

Competitors would then be judged on biggest air, the best trick, style and with bonus points being awarded for those lucky enough to make it all the way across the pond. Hundreds of people line the mountain to catch a glimpse of their favorite costumed rider, or looking to see a big splash.

The Spring Carnival is a 3 day event with other uniquely Alaskan events such as the “Dummy Downhill Mountain Bike Race” and the “XTRATUF™ Tug o’ War competition”. All 3 nights of the Spring Carnival weekend featured performances by Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons “Live” at the Sitzmark Bar & Grill. Never been to Slush Cup?
