By  |

Here at 907 Life, we have dedicated ourselves to covering everything entertainment news, events and lifestyle. You know, all the going ons in the Ak. Concerts, art events, festivals… and theres nothing we love more than a well rounded recap.

So we went all hashtag crazy and looked into some of the more popular events that went on this past weekend. What better way to catch up, than from the people living the 907 Life? Many visitors and long time Anchorage-ites, will boast the glories of summer… THERES JUST SO MUCH TO DO!! Even the act of doing nothing is something underneath the Alaskan sun. With the help of some fellow AK instagrammers, here are the 3 events from this past weekend that had us… primped and primed, liberated and ready to rage.

6th Annual Clare to Clare Fashion Show.

Anchorage Instagram Collage: All of these photos were collected from actual local accounts without the intention to reproduce or sell them.

In 6 short years, the Clare to Clare Fashion show has gone from a simple act of good will, to a show stopping mega fundraiser. With more hair spray, heels, models and makeup, the Clare to Clare Fashion show trumps any show of its kind, even raising a whopping 75 thousands dollars last year for its charity and name sake. The event took place in downtown Anchorage at the Dena’ina Center. Upon entering, patrons had the opportunity to get a taste of celebrity as a 6 foot long red carpet ushered them into the event.

Photographers were on hand to snap photos of all that entered. Hundreds of items were up for grabs in their elaborate silent auction as well as a free photo booth for those looking to get a little silly. 7 local boutiques and 2 designers commanded the next 2 hours, with amazing hand crafted dresses and gowns, over the top hair dos and makeup that would make Cleopatra envious.

SHOW STANDOUTS: Maj Designs: Hands down, the most amazing featured local designer. Surprise Best Dress Contest: No one had any idea, but C2C was watching, the event surprised and pulled fashion show goers from the crowd for an impromptu best dressed award. Fun! Don Megga & Ariane Aramburo: The always hilarious Kfat radio frontman and quick witted KTUU morning news anchor, slide into their roles as the evenings hosts and did everything but steal the show, Bravo!

Salmon Stock 2014.

Anchorage Instagram Collage: All of these photos were collected from actual local accounts without the intention to reproduce or sell them.

Salmon stock is one of those Alaskan festivals where, everything about it is exactly what it sounds like. But there is a simple magic about it that explains why it continues to grow every year. The Salmon stock lists on their website some very 1st testament reminiscent type rules for enjoying the festival, But above all.. the golden rule? Please be respectful of your neighbors and consider their comfort…” Easy enough right?

Salmonstock is a celebration of Wild Alaskan Salmon and the people who depend upon them. It’s also about the power we as Alaskans have to protect our resources and our livelihoods. So for three full music filled days, people come from all over the state (some from the lower 48) to the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik. Salmonstock featured over 60 bands on four stages, camping, dancing and good ole fashion comradery. Pictures poured in this weekend of all the fan fair, sunshine and all the best parts of an Alaskan summer.

SHOW STANDOUTS: Face Paint & Hula Hoops: Who can hula hoop, I mean really? Super entertaining to watch tho, S.S had plenty of it.  Salmonstock Aerial ShotWho knows how this actually gets organized, but without fail… it happens. Its epicness is almost worth the drive in itself. #Lookupinthesky

36 Crazyfist Shows and Album Release.
Anchorage Instagram Collage: All of these photos were collected from actual local accounts without the intention to reproduce or sell them.Quick, name as many successful bands from Alaska as you can in 10 seconds… Go! How many did you get? Lets start with one… 36 Crazyfist. Long time Anchorage kid and band front man Brock Lindow has been kickin and scream’in long before the band landed its first major label record deal back in 2000. Since then, 6 albums and multiple INTERNATIONAL tours… 36 is still every bit Alaska as it gets. The boys are gearing up for a new studio release and in doing so has treated us to a super rawking outdoor Big Lake show, an album listening party in downtown Anchorage and a few rowdy shows at the infamous Chilkoot Charlies.

You may not be a fan of their type of music, but there’s something to be said about the 36 nostalgia and their energy. We have all had times we want to scream and maybe thrash around a bit, most of us wait till after five and in between the kids nap times. But in all their successes 36 has never forgotten where they come from, or our active military. We love seeing pictures of the rowdy crowds and the ever charismatic Brock, good show boys, good show!!

SHOW STANDOUTS: Big Open Air ShowWho can complain about a concert underneath a 12 hour sun, beer garden and wake boarding on the lake? Genius. New 36CF Swag: You know its almost hoody season. The boys brought out some new merchandise and its pretty sick. New music: When 36 announced they were back in the studio, record labels started callin… and who gets to hear it first before the rest of the world? We do!! How often do you get to say that? #hellarad

Had an awesome weekend? What did you do? We’d love to hear about… lets us know in the comments or message us about your favorite moments from these events.
