907 Weekend-Stagram 9/12

By  |

As we muster through our work week, somewhere around 3:30 we get a glimmer of hope… Its almost friday, Again!! Sometimes its busy busy and sometimes, which is as good as any… its relaxing. For us here at 907Life this past weekend was an exciting one. New venues and nostalgic ideas, and for some an introductions to classic sounds from the soul. No matter how you spent your weekend its always awesome to look back.

Hashtag much? We do… we searched some of the most popular events that went on this past weekend to catch up on what we may have missed. And what better way than from the people living the 907 Life? With the help of some fellow AK instagrammers, here are the 3 events from this past weekend that had us… Southern Shaken, Music Howling and willing to do anything for Anthony.

Alabama Shakes “Live” at the Alaska Airlines Center

The Alaska Airlines Center
opened its doors for the venues first ever live performance, as concert goers enjoyed the powerful and almost hypnotic sounds of the Alabama Shakes. To help celebrate the grand opening of the new facilities, the concert would help kick off a weekend long series of events that would sure to please. Drive movie and food truck rodeo.

SHOW STANDOUTS: No More Beer,  As with anything new, the arena ran into… well a few hiccups. “No more beer?” Whoops, at least the new decor was nice. Cheers to that.
Howlapalooza 2014

Howlapalooza was the brainchild of the University of Alaska Anchorage and its new partnership with the Alaska Airlines Center. The first all local music festival filled the arena with local rock, folk, gospel and classical music. It was the first time all genres were together on one day and the scenes most talented performers took to 1 of 2 stages for an 11 hour festival. Among them were some local usual suspects Turquoise boy, Thera, Noise begaide and Alaska Thunder funk. The shows headliners were local legends, 36 crazyfist who closed out the day long festival with a barrage of guitar swings and jump kicks.

Oh and did we forget? THE FOOD!! Who doesn’t love a good food truck, who peppered the entrance to the arena with every thing from fish tacos to Kalbi steak.

SHOW STANDOUTS: Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Choir: An added and surprising addition to the musical line up. The choir brought a host of its congregation as it soared with its powerful and uplifting performance, awesome.

Anthony Hamilton “Live” at the Atwood

Anthony Hamilton brought his platinum-selling sound to the Atwood concert hall and put on an 2 hour show stopping set. The
Comin’ from Where I’m From singer-songwriter, left nothing to be desired as he and his band rocked the sold out concert hall.

There were reports the singer came in a few days early and was sighted all over town “mingling” with fans and local business owners.

SHOW STANDOUTS: Encore: Who can complain about an artist who feels so at home that he continues to play cause no one is ready to leave? Hats off to you sir.

Did you have an awesome weekend? What did you do? We’d love to hear about it… lets us know in the comments or message us about your favorite moments from these events.
