907 Weekend-Stagram 10/24

By  |

The snow has taking its final position on the mountains and so begins it procession down toward the Anchorage bowl. Hats, gloves and masks? Oh, its time… and the weekends pre-festivities kicked off the Halloween holiday in spook-tacular fashion. Did we say this was our favorite holiday? Halloween is our favorite holiday!!

Hashtag Halloween! We searched some of the most popular events that went on this past weekend to catch up on what you may have missed. And what better way than from the people living the 907 Life? With the help of some fellow AK instagrammers, here are the 3 events from this past weekend that had us… Frightening fast, Proud and prideful and all Zombie festive in this weeks 907 Weekend-stagram.

Skinny Raven’s Frightening 4K 2014

Anchorage Instagram Collage: All of these photos were collected from actual local accounts without the intention to reproduce or sell them.Heres the thing, if I told you there was an event that 800 people were going to participate in, would you go? The Skinny Raven Frightening 4k drew just that. In just its 3rd year, it is developing into the cities biggest holiday themed run. Competitors showed up dressed in everything from video game characters to zombies. Whats a little 4k between friends? Not everyone was out for a PR or a race record (our friend Hallidie Wilt finished first with a time of 13:47 in front of both women and men) On your mark, get set… Halloween Fun Run!! Good times all the way round.

SHOW STANDOUTS: Wheres Ms. Pacman: Probably the best part of the run was the costumes, but none was more funny than Pac man chasing some ghosts.. Pretty Freakin Hilarious. Its like they have a direct line to our funny bone.

2014 Annual AFN Convention

Anchorage Instagram Collage: All of these photos were collected from actual local accounts without the intention to reproduce or sell them. Each year, the AFN Convention draws between 4,000–5,000 attendees and is webcast to about 70 countries worldwide. Contrary to popular belief the convention isn’t only for people of Alaska Native descent. The AFN is known for its customary art show, renowned as one of the best places to find Alaska Native and Native American artwork. During the weekends event, policy guidelines and advocacy statements are set by the dozens of resolutions passed by voting delegates at the Convention. Getting things done people!!

SHOW STANDOUTS: Rich in Culture: Quit commonly Alaska is known for its wilderness and outdoor appeal. But Alaska boasts a diverse and culturally rich community and history. Its amazing to get a chance to see examples of it in such grand fashion.

Zombiefist 7 feat. 36 Crazyfist

Anchorage Instagram Collage: All of these photos were collected from actual local accounts without the intention to reproduce or sell them.Arguably an Anchorage Halloween mainstay, 36 Crazyfists presented another monster show, Zombiefist 7!! The boys headlined the annual theme party and rawh – rawh – raaaawkked out! The show also featured Kallahan Ak, Spitshine and Ships Without Harbor as hundreds of pre halloween fans raged long into the night at the downtown Egan Civic and Convention Center.

SHOW STANDOUTS: L is for Lumberjacks: The Headlining 36 Crazyfists took the stage saturday adorned with matching red and black flannels and stocking caps to boot. Almost fitting, there isn’t anything more Alaskan than a band of bearded lumberjacks screaming and shredding the axe! (Yea, see what I did there? Cause the guitar is sometimes called an axe… ahh, you get it.)

Did you have an awesome weekend? What did you do? We’d love to hear about it… lets us know in the comments or message us about your favorite moments from these events.
