907 Weekend-Stagram 10/10

By  |

Brrr, did someone leave the AC on or is it really that cold outside? Theres no doubt that winter is definitely coming… but it doesn’t seem to be slowing anyone down when it comes to weekend activities. And for good reason, there is entirely too much to get into… well for some, get out of.

Lets get hashtag crazy! We searched some of the most popular events that went on this past weekend to catch up on what you may have missed. And what better way than from the people living the 907 Life? With the help of some fellow AK instagrammers, here are the 3 events from this past weekend that had us… Pumped up, fiending for leftovers and all prim and proper in this weeks 907 Weekend-stagram.

AFX V: The Alaska Fitness Expo 2014

The The Alaska Fitness Expo took over the Dena’ina Center with the states biggest fitness event this weekend. Competitors lined up to show off their chiseled muscles, test their endurance and power lift their way to a chance at earning a national competition spot and sponsorship. Win there and you’re in the big time. “Um , excuse me sir… I am  going to need to see a licence for those guns.”

SHOW STANDOUTS: Did someone say cake?: After countless hours in the gym and clean eating, one thing every competitor had to give up, sweets. Doughnut anyone? Nothing says victory like carbs and sugar. Solid work to all the competitors.

Leftover Cuties (Secret Show)

The Performing Arts Center opened its doors this weekend to the California based pop band the Leftover Cuties, but not before the band treated a select few to a “secret show”. The Anchorage Community Works building played host to a “pre” Leftover Cuties performance and it was stellar. Attendees were secretly invited a few weeks in advance only to find out who and where this free show would happen a couple of days before hand. The secret show participates were treated to an excerpt of the full show and had a chance to meet and mingle with the band, pretty cool.

SHOW STANDOUTS: Special E-vites: Where “who you know” is definitely worth its bebenefit, theres something to be said about receiving an invitation to something secret. Oh what, you didn’t get invited? Weird, but thats none of our business.

Mayors Charity Ball 2014

The 2014 Mayors Charity Ball swept its attendants off their feet with a night full of music, dancing and fund raising. Since its conception in 1993, the nights event has raised more than 2 million dollars for community charitable organizations. The event attracts guests from all parts of the community, all dressed to their finest. Ball gowns, tuxedos and of course the lights made for another spectacular event. Hey Mr. Mayor? Can you teach us how to dougie? No… next term then?

SHOW STANDOUTS: The Bowtie: Contrary to belief… there are a few thousand bowties in this town and some classy gentlemen to boot. We are always a fan of the “dress up”.  We dont always wear a bowtie, but when we do… expect something epic!

Did you have an awesome weekend? What did you do? We’d love to hear about it… lets us know in the comments or message us about your favorite moments from these events.
